Toy Story 4 (Trailers)

There have been a number of trailers made for the new Toy Story Movie 'Toy Story 4'

The first trailer to be released for any movie is the teaser trailer.
The teaser trailer for 'Toy Story 4' was released in November 2018 even though the actual movie is going to be released in June 2019, seven months after the initial teaser trailer was released.

The main aim of a teaser trailer if to create a sense of hype for the upcoming movie and get the audience excited so that by the time that the movie is released, they cannot wait to go and see it in the cinema.

Teaser trailers are usually about one to one and a half minutes long.

Generally, teaser trailers do not give away much of what will happen in the movie but instead set the general theme for the upcoming movie and rarely feature much dialogue but often feature a large amount of action. The footage shown in teaser trailers is rarely actual footage that will be in the movie but additional clips created just for promotional purposes.

Every movie also has a main, theatrical trailer:

The theatrical trailer was released after the teaser trailer (in March), just over three months before the movie is released.

Theatrical trailers are usually about two minutes long.

Theatrical trailers generally give more of an idea to the audience of what the movie will be about as well consisting of actual footage from the movie. Theatrical trailers are still attempting however, to keep as much of the movie secret as they can and therefore often only show footage from a small part of the beginning of the movie but edit it in a way that can confuse the audience in an intriguing way that makes them want to see the movie when it is released.

As well as theatrical trailers and teaser trailers, most movies also have TV spots:

This is the TV spot that  was first screened during the Super Bowl 'ad break'.

TV spots are not usually any longer than about thirty seconds.

TV spots show new footage that may have not been in previous trailers as well as using already seen footage but edited in a different order.

Toy Story 4 follows the generic conventions of all three types of trailers.
