Conventions of TV Spots
There are a number of generic conventions of TV spots:
- TV spots are generally no longer than thirty seconds long
- A TV spot appears on tv during advert breaks in-between programmes (this is one of the ways in which it differs to theatrical trailers)
- TV spots are generally released as the movie is just about to be released or is already in cinemas.
- Generally TV spots take actual footage from the movie whereas in other trailers they may film additional shots just for the theatrical and teaser trailers in order to confuse and surprise the audience with the actual movie.
- TV spots will be fast paced and definitely somewhat more dramatic than the longer trailers as they have to pack much more into a short amount of time.
