Theatrical Trailer 1 (We're The Millers)

Many of the conventions that I outlined in the previous post are used in this trailer.

The first thing that the audience sees is the logos of the two production companies involved in this movie. (Warner Bros Pictures and New Line Cinema who are both owned by Time Warner.)

Secondly, the trailer further follows conventions by showing the title of the movie with twenty seconds still remaining of the trailer.

This trailer does not show the age rating of the movie. This movie was rated 15 by the BBFC.

At the end of the trailer there are links Warner Bros accounts in various social media platforms.

Throughout this trailer, all of the main characters are introduced, however not revealing too much information about each individual character as this would ruin the experience of watching the movie.
As a number of the cast are famous or well known, their faces are shown more than other lesser known actors. This is due to the fact that when the audience recognise members of the cast, they will be more likely to go and see the movie.

Throughout the trailer there is non diegetic music setting the upbeat tone for the movie whilst not being too fast so as to go with the pace of the trailer and movie. At the end of the trailer there is the only diegetic music when they are singing in the van which emphasises that this is a comedy.

This trailer does not use voiceovers in the traditional sense but instead cuts from one scene to another whilst retaining the audio and dialogue from the previous scene.

This trailer is exactly two minutes thirty seconds long which is the same length as most other theatrical trailers and you will struggle to find one longer.

The last thing that the viewer sees when watching this trailer is the release date of the film.
