Genre Conventions
- This trailer begins with a series of slow cutting shots and fades to black. The genre is instantly clear when the driver of the car turns and sprays pepper spray in the girls face.
- After this initial scene it cuts to the production company logo as with most other thriller trailers. They generally have one initial scene to establish the location and mood of the movie before showing the production company logos.
- The trailer is based around establishing the main antagonist and developing his character which then makes it clear that this is a thriller movie.
- This trailer uses a mixture of fast cutting, fades to black and quick cutting.
- Slow non diegetic music builds the suspense and adds to the ominous feeling of this trailer.
- There are also dramatic and unusual camera angles being used perhaps highlighting how unusual this man is.
- A convention of thriller movies is to list other movies in the trailer of the same genre that had the same director and or same writer.
